Ellie Cohanim: Outsourcing of Anti-Semitism & Power Relations, New Paradigms w/Sargis Sangari EP #92

On Thursday, 31 MAR 22, on the 92nd EPISODE, of New Paradigms with Sargis Sangari, Ellie Cohanim, Former U.S. Deputy Special #Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism at the U.S. Department of State (#DOS) and the first #Iranian-born #Jewish-Envoy joined me to discuss the possible outsourcing of #AntiSemitism amidst The “New Model of Power Relations.”

Ellie Cohanim, a Senior Fellow with Independent Women’s Forum (#IWF), discussed what conditions are necessary for the citizens of #Iran to bring change to their country. She discusses the current state of the #AbrahamAccords.

We discussed the current #geopolitical circumstances than those under the #Trump Administration. We dived into how the #Jewish community lives under “second class” status, often excluded from certain jobs and careers in Iran. We also focused on the threats by the Iran regime officials, such as Iran’s Vice President for #Economic Affairs #MohsenRezaee, that the Jews community in Iran may be held as hostages in the future to negotiate with the # U.S. and #Europe.

Ellie discussed the issues and topics associated with the administration’s push to sign a new #JCOPA and the double standard to speak about anti-Semitism but yet push for normalcy with Iran, a nation that wants to eradicate Israel.

Finally, Ellie and I discussed what can be done to combat the very real and dangerous situation when it seems that #government and non-government (#NGOs) and #watchdog groups are complicit in outsourcing anti-semitism. For example, in some cases to #Iran and or using a combination of #refugeeand or #migrant groups, such as in Europe that are violent against Jews and the state of #Israel.

We finished our conversation by focusing our discussion on how the current #international and #domestic extreme political shifts and the anti-Semitism they bring put more danger on the Jews and other #minorities.
