At least 86 killed, 186 injured in bomb blasts at peace rally in Turkish capital

NEC-SE can report that Twitter was blocked for a short time earlier today before the attack.  Unfortunately for Turkey, it will not have peace until major changes take place within its political systems.  Turkey is possibly headed for intervention by the Turkish military in its politics prior to 1 NOV 15 elections.

On 5 OCT 15 NEC-SE posted the article: “The Destruction of the Islamic Caliphate of the AK Party Under Erdogan’s Leadership.”

In the article we stated:  “President Erdogan has clamped down on freedom of the press, called the Nationalist Movement Party (Milliyetçi Hareket Partisi, or MHP) an active arm of the PKK (and thus not “truly Turkish”), threatened to remove polling places from neighborhoods with residents who are active PKK members, arrested a prominent journalist and labeled his last seven opinion articles “an active coup d’etat,” sued the leader of the main opposition Republican People’s Party (Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi, or CHP) for slander (the case was dismissed when President Erdogan’s lawyers failed to agree that audio tapes linked to the earlier mentioned graft probe be admitted into evidence) and, most egregiously, labeled the prosecutors and police investigators involved with the graft probe as an “armed militant group, planning a coup d’etat.”

If a coup d’etat does takes place in Turkey as feared by President Erdagon, NEC-SE believes that the Islamists in Turkey will go into hiding as they did in Egypt. The fate of the Islamist parties in Turkey will be similar to the fate of those in Egypt after General el-Sisi took power.

On 7 JUN 15 NEC-SE posted the article:  The death of Turkish President Erdogan’s dream of an AK supermajority.

On 2 OCT 15 NEC-SE posted the article: “Turkey is strategically being squeezed from the North and the South by Russia”

Today’s FOX report states: “Two bomb explosions targeting a peace rally in Turkey’s capital Ankara on Saturday killed at least 86 people and injured 186 others, Turkey’s Health Ministry said.”

The explosions occurred minutes apart near Ankara’s main train station as people were gathering for the rally, organized by the country’s public sector workers’ trade union and other civic society groups. The rally aimed to call for an end to the renewed violence between Kurdish rebels and Turkish security forces.

It was not clear if the attacks, which came weeks before Turkey’s Nov. 1 elections, were suicide bombings.

  1. I don’t see a coup coming anytime soon, President Erdogan effectively neutered the military with the Ergenikon and Sledgehammer cases 7 years ago. However, I do see the business community switching sides against Erdogan and the AK government in favor of a european-minded CHP. I presume that they are disappointed with the AK party allowing too many gulf state companies to come and take business away from Turkish companies (Digiturk, for example).
