Today in Bursa, in the Aegian district 300 kilometers from Ankara, a female suicide bomber detonated her suicide vest injuring 13 civilians, outside of the city’s main mosque. The bombing is being tied to the Partiya Karkeren Kurdistan (PKK). PKK has used female suicide bombers in the past.
The PKK has stated that beginning in the spring and lasting through the summer they will be targeting the cities in the western part of the Turkey. The western part of Turkey, famous for its seaside resorts and hordes of summer tourists, has been previously untouched by the Kurdistan violence.
If the PKK are to be believed, the popular tourist areas in Turkey’s seaside resorts will be a target. Yesterday, the U.S. Embassy issued a warning to all American citizens in Turkey to avoid tourist areas.
Unfortunately for those who have served in Iraq in the past the term “today’s bomber”, is a sad commentary on the reality that Turkey’s operational environment may be similar to that of Iraq since 2007.

On 31 JUL 2015 NEC-SE quoted the Assyrian historian and author John Hajjar as stating:
These Sunni Muslim Kurdish tribesmen originated in Persia but switched their allegiance to the Ottomans after the Turks overcame the Safavid Persians in the Battle of Chaldiran in 1514 A.D. As a result of the 1915 actions to “cleanse” the Assyrian Christians from their Anatolian lands the Sunni Muslim Kurds became ever more firmly ensconced in the region, and prospered in it: so much that they now effectively control fully one-third of Turkish Anatolia, which they have renamed “Kurdi-Stan,” literarily “Land of the Kurds.”
And so the Turks gave away Assyrian lands to the Kurds, who later became enemies of the Turks.

For the Assyrians, Armenians, and Greeks who held the 101st remembrance observances of the 1915 Syfo Genocide, on 24 APR 16, the irony is not lost that Muslim Sunni Kurds and Turks who were responsible for many of the genocide killings are currently killing each other in the same lands where the Assyrians, Armenians, and Greeks had lived peacefully prior to the Turkish decision to replace them with the Kurds.
