The reality is that 3,000 Yazidis entered and “cleared” Sinjar city, their historical homeland, as the Kurdish forces sat outside of the city with U.S. provided heavy weapons.

The larger Kurdish forces did enter the city after it was cleared by the Yazidis to raise the Kurdish flag inside the city and thus taking the overall credit for the Joint Yazidi, and Kurdish operation.  The problem for the Yazidis is that after 15 years of continuous combat operations in the region the world press still remains uninformed as to the differences between the two ethnicities.

None of this narrative will change given the Yazidis do not have a strong enough lobby in DC and within the press to counter lobby efforts to tie them to others numbers and political efforts in their historical homelands.
