On Monday, 1 NOV 21, on the 71st EPISODE, of New Paradigms with Sargis Sangari, I discuss the U.S. Foreign Policy, pre-#BinLaden–post #Afghanistan withdrawal with Dr. #MichaelScheuer, twenty-plus-year former Central Intelligence Agency (#CIA) veteran and Chief of the Osama Bin Laden tracking unit, from 1996-1999, at the #Counterterrorism Center (aka #AlecStation) and the Special Advisor to the Chief of the Bin Laden unit from September 2001, after #9/11, to November 2004.
Dr. Scheuer discussed that after the collapse of Afghanistan and multiple global and domestic failures, #China and #Russia are asking the question, “Is America ever going to be weaker than it is now, and is now the time to strike against her?”
Can #America recover from the continued decline of U.S. #Intelligence agencies and a rotting and #politicized leadership in the U.S. #military?
Micheal, a CIA analyst since 1982 who worked on the #MiddleEast, #IslamicRadicalism, and Osama Bin Laden threat desks at the agency, helps answer the question “Where are we today?”
Dr. Scheuer argues that the National Security Council (#NSC) has ceased being an intelligence organization designed to protect American lives and security and has devolved since the #Bush/#Clinton years into a government office focused on re-electing the current Presidents.
They no longer ask, “will this save lives” but instead make global decisions based on how it will read in the next news cycle. This dangerous de-evolution leaves America impotent and Americans unsafe.
He discusses whether or not Military Generals, too, have lost the ability to win wars and save American lives. #Generals no longer focus on the Art of War to defeat the enemy but instead are sent to #Harvard and allow Non-Government Organizations (#NGOs) to influence military operations.
These actions leave America organizationally weak and structurally built for failure. As a result, American policy has shifted from winning to being involved in continual conflict overseas and grandstanding on imagined “values” with no results-based policy.
Michael states that only a massive reorganization and cleaning of the house will stand a chance of reversing the decline of American military and intelligence agencies.
NEC-SE asks, is it too late already, and does China have a grip inside the U.S. government too firm to allow a restructure?
Join Dr. Michael Scheuer and me as we discuss these critical issues and topics.
