On 4 FEB 16 The European Parliament voted  to designate the atrocities committed by ISIS against religious and ethnic minorities, including Assyrians and Yazidiz, as genocide. The resolution passed by an overwhelming majority. Formal genocide recognition places legal obligations on all countries who are signatories to the genocide convention to take action.

The Assyrians were mentioned four (4) times within the body of the text.  Now, if only the United States is willing to do the same (unlikely), then the Assyrians may have one last breath to secure the Assyrian heartland of Assyria Nineveh Plain to preserve their ancient people culture and history in a federalized Iraq.
