The WSJ article states:  ISTANBUL—Protesters clashed with police in southeast Turkey for the second day Wednesday, after several Kurdish parliamentary candidates were disqualified from June national-election ballots.

One demonstrator died in the violence, state-run news agency Anadolu Ajansi reported, escalating political tensions and forcing a top Kurdish politician to cancel a meeting with Turkey’s president.

At least one person was shot dead in clashes between Kurdish protesters and police in Bismil, sparked by a ban on a dozen prominent Kurdish politicians from running in upcoming elections. Video courtesy of Reuters and photo courtesy of AP.
According to officials at the Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party, or BDP, thousands of demonstrators fought with police in Diyarbakir, the largest city in Turkey’s Kurdish-dominated southeast.
