“According to a statement released by the Mardin Governorate, a school building located in Mardin’s Dargeçit district that has been under construction was set on fire around 6 a.m. Explosives were then detonated at around 6:50 a.m. when an armored police vehicle that was carrying police officers to help firefighters and secure the safety of the area passed by. The Mardin Governorate said the fire at the school building is believed to have been set by PKK members.”
“More than 70 members of Turkey’s security forces have been killed since the PKK attacks began. Turkish media says more than 900 PKK militants have been killed in that period in Southeast Turkey and Iraq, where the PKK has bases.”
