With the arms race beginning in the Middle East Pope Francis comments that global conflicts have become WWIII may ring true in the future.

Last year Pope Francis warned of a third world war while visiting the Austro-Hungarian Cemetery of Fogliano di Redipuglia in northeastern Italy on Saturday to mark the 100th anniversary of WWI.

Today with the ever expanding arms race in the Middle East it is not far fetched to believe that what he said last year may become true.  As Turkey has just purchased missiles from China so Iran in turn announced the purchasing of 100 aircrafts from China to be used in its coming war within the Middle East.

Pope Frances said last year:  “Even today, after the second failure of another world war, perhaps one can speak of a third war, one fought piecemeal, with crimes, massacres, destruction,” Francis said at a mass at the Italian Military Memorial of Redipuglia. “War is madness. … War ruins everything, even the bonds between brothers. War is irrational; its only plan is to bring destruction: It seeks to grow by destroying.” Redipuglia, the largest Italian war memorial, entombs 100,000 Italian soldiers killed in battle, 60,000 whose identities remain unknown and 40,000 who were identified.”
